Carteret County is a diverse and rapidly changing area situated along North Carolina’s coast. More and more people relocate to our area each year. Carteret County has many benefits for its residents and the thousands of visitors that arrive each year.

The area is also known as the Crystal Coast. It’s a beautiful place from the forests on out to the ocean. The people are friendly, helpful, and fun. Weather in Carteret County is generally fair most of the time in any season.

The Sheriff’s department is made up of the folks that ensure our safety along the Crystal Coast. They also maintain law and order in the many unincorporated areas of Carteret County. The operation of the county jail in Beaufort also falls on the sheriff.

This office helps protect citizens of Carteret County in the event of hurricanes, natural disasters, and man-made disasters. They have plans to help keep us all safe in the event of a disaster.

Animal and Mosquito Control Division

Ben Kane is the director of the Animal and Mosquito Control Division. This division is in charge of protecting the public from health and safety concerns associated with animals, and mosquitoes. They also respond to calls regarding animal cruelty.

The Carteret County Shore Protection Office takes on the challenge of protecting our beaches from erosion and man-made negative impacts to our shoreline.
