1. Go for a walk on the beach.

You could go by yourself, with your friends, with your family, or even your dog (just remember if they poop, you scoop). Walking the beach is one of the obvious tings to do in Emerald Isle. Most of the time its just an amazing way to burn an hour or two, and a few calories. Oh it’s free too.

2. Head to the beach for some fishing.

Emerald Isle fishing is really fast action in the fall. However, you can still catch a good variety of fish year long right from the surf. Or you could go to the pier and fish. If nothing else it’s something to do for a few hours in the sun.

3. Rent a surfboard and hang ten.

Some days the surf in Emerald Isle is actually pretty good. Just be careful, we have no town lifeguards. Surfing is an ever more popular thing to do along the Crystal Coast.

4. Swim.

In the summer months the waters here really warm up. Almost like bath water. In the late summer it gets almost too warm to swim, you’ll actually start sweating if you’re swimming fast and hard for long enough. This is a great Emerald Isle thing to do.

5. Sit on the deck.

Sometimes just sitting on the deck and listening to the waves crash on the beach and watching people enjoy their vacations is really relaxing. Just doing nothing can be entertaining at the beach.

6. Rent a kayak.

This is probably one of the coolest ways to explore and get in touch with nature around Emerald Isle and the Crystal Coast. This is my personal favorite thing to do in the summer months. If you’ve never tried it, you’re missing out on a great thing to do while in Emerald Isle.

 7. Get up early and watch the sunrise.

Its really awe inspiring to watch the sunrise from the beach. Seeing it peek over the liquid horizon is a pretty neat way to start the day. And chances are you’re on vacation, so why would you sleep in?

8. Go shelling.

There are all kinds of cool shells on our beaches. You may even find a prehistoric sharks tooth. The state seashell is the Scotch Bonnet. They are rare but can be found in Emerald Isle. Many other shells can be found around the Crystal Coast.

9. Build a sandcastle.

There’s a lot of sand here (for now), why not do something cool with it? It would be cool to see more sand castle competitions along the Crystal Coast.
